EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VIDEO TO GIF
Converting video to GIF is one of the most common needs for content creators, social media managers, and developers. GIFs auto-play everywhere — in emails, chat apps, forums, and social media — making them the universal format for short animated content. Our converter makes this process completely free and private.
Our tool works entirely in your browser using HTML5 video, canvas, and the gif.js encoding library. When you upload a video, it stays on your device. We seek through the video frame by frame, draw each frame to a canvas element, and feed the pixel data to gif.js workers that encode the final GIF file. No server-side processing means instant results and complete privacy.
For best results, keep clips under 15 seconds and use 10 FPS for a good balance of smoothness and file size. Lower the output width to reduce file size dramatically — a 320px wide GIF is typically 4x smaller than an 640px one. If you need higher quality, increase FPS to 15-20 but expect larger files. Most social platforms accept GIFs up to 15MB.
